During the day, the home PV energy storage system absorbs solar energy, generates electricity, and automatically stores it for nighttime load use. In the event of a power outage, the system can automatically switch to backup power, ensuring the normal operation of lighting, appliances, and other equipment. During off-peak hours, the battery packs in the home energy storage system can automatically recharge for use during peak hours or power outages. Besides serving as an emergency power source, the home energy storage system can also balance electricity load, thereby saving on household electricity costs. What is a home photovoltaic (PV) energy storage system?


 A home PV power station energy storage system is a system that combines a solar photovoltaic conversion system with energy storage equipment. It can convert solar power into storable electrical energy. This system allows home users to generate electricity during the day and store excess electricity for use at night or in low-light conditions.

Classification of Residential Photovoltaic Energy Storage Systems: Residential energy storage systems are currently classified into two types: grid-connected residential energy storage systems and off-grid residential energy storage systems.


Grid-connected residential energy storage system


It consists of five main parts: a solar panel array, a grid-connected inverter, a BMS management system, a battery pack, and AC loads. The system uses a hybrid power supply of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage. When the mains power is normal, the loads are powered by both the PV grid-connected system and the mains power; when the mains power fails, the energy storage system and the PV grid-connected system jointly provide power. The grid-connected residential energy storage system has three operating modes: Mode 1: PV provides energy storage, and surplus electricity is fed into the grid; Mode 2: PV provides energy storage, and some users consume electricity; Mode 3: PV only provides partial energy storage.


Off-grid residential energy storage system


It is independent and has no electrical connection to the power grid. Therefore, the entire system does not require a grid-connected inverter; a photovoltaic inverter is sufficient. Off-grid residential energy storage systems have three operating modes: Mode 1: Photovoltaics provide energy storage and electricity to the user (sunny days); Mode 2: Photovoltaics and energy storage batteries provide electricity to the user (cloudy days); Mode 3: Energy storage batteries provide electricity to the user (evening and rainy days).
